Cashmere is one of the finest natural fibers in the world, and is combed from the fine undercoat of Chinese and Mongolian goats. Knitwear made from this precious and delicate fiber is luxurious to wear, but requires a little more care than other fibers. After wearing your new cashmere garment for the first few times you may find small balls of fiver forming on the surface. These small balls or “pills” are caused by some of the loose fiber tangling together as areas of your garment are rubbed during wear. Pills can be easily removed by hand or by using a cashmere comb. You will find that after lavishing a little care and attention on your Ben Silver cashmere and removing the pills in this way, the garment will actually consolidate and soften in handle and touch
We recommend that your Ben Silver cashmere is gently washed after it has been worn three or four times. Cashmere knitwear can be hand washed or dry cleaned. We recommend hand washing, following these few guidelines:
Use lukewarm water (30°C)
Gently squeeze the suds through the fabric, taking care not to rub the garment, as this may cause shrinkage and increase pilling.
Rinse the garment in cool clean water, squeezing gentling without twisting or wringing. A short, light spin in a spin drier will help to remove most of the water. Under no circumstances should the garment be tumble-dried.
Smooth the garment back into its original shape, gently coaxing any facings or trims back to the correct size, and dry naturally away from direct head such as radiators and sunlight.
Ideally, the garment should be dried flat on a clean towel. When dry, press lightly with a cool iron.
Following these instructions, your garment will preserve its shape and luxurious touch for many years.
